Kristian Basaraba is the founder of the community organization Rad Dads Edmonton, a dedicated father, lead singer in a punk rock cover band, podcast host, semi-retired skateboarder and high school science teacher at Next Step High School in Sherwood Park. He has a Master’s of Science in Science Education from Montana State University and has taught all levels of high school science but also has a passion for art and projects that explore social justice issues. His students have tackled such issues as sexism, poverty in youth, addiction and his last project, Exploring Colonialism, Creativity and Reconciliation with Skateboards has earned him the Governor General’s History Award for Excellence in Teaching.
