Dan Riskin

Dan Riskin, PhD, is a biologist, science journalist, and author. He is best known as CTV’s Science and Technology Specialist, and as the former co-host of Daily Planet on The Discovery Channel. Dan was born and raised in Edmonton, where he began his career as a bat biologist, focused on the biomechanics of locomotion. In 2010 Dan left academics to become a full-time science communicator. Dan has hosted science-based TV shows for The Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, National Geographic, CTV (W5), and CBC (The Nature of Things). He has also appeared as a guest on CTV National News, CNN Tonight, CBS This Morning, The Tonight Show, and The Late Late Show. Dan’s book Mother Nature is Trying to Kill You was a Canadian bestseller. He lives in Toronto with his partner Shelby and their three wonderful kids.
