Dr. Yates is a retired principal from Edmonton Public Schools where she spent 32 years as a teacher, counsellor, department head, assistant principal and principal in nine schools (K-12). She holds a BPE, BEd, MEd in School Counselling and a PhD in Educational Administration and Leadership. Her PhD thesis explored the self-efficacy of high school principals and how it relates to their professional practice. She continues to be interested in self-efficacy, collective efficacy, and the critical importance of relationships. She is also very interested in school leadership and the preparation of teachers as well as teacher leaders and administrators. Dr. Yates is currently a Field Experience Associate (FEA) at the University of Alberta, and a lecturer in Professional Learning.
