ACEE Symposium: Enough about the problem! Climate solutions here & now
“Our Shared Future” symposium session: Conversations and education about climate change typically focus on understanding the issue: What do we know, and how bad is it? But this approach does little to address the problem nor the growing anxiety students feel about their future. A more important question we should be asking is: What can we DO about it? The answer might surprise you! Be empowered by strategies and resources to explore the full spectrum of climate solutions with your students. Explore the skills and knowledge needed to build a brighter future while contributing to student wellness. Leave with links between curriculum, real-world climate action plans, and Indigenous perspectives.

1:00pm MST

***Pre-Recorded*** Take the project AGRICULTURE Challenge
Explore big ideas like the land and its resources, food systems, Alberta and Canadian histories, trends and human activities through agriculture! Find out how to use the project AGRICULTURE curriculum-based program in your elementary classrooms. Access examples of sources and stories, engage with interesting and quirky trivia questions and find Alberta farm photos that your students can use to take the project AGRICULTURE challenge and make a timeline, design an amazing race, create a trending infographic, envision a job of the future or demonstrate a reaction in everyday foods. This session will provide practical suggestions for using the project AGRICULTURE program with your students as project-based, or simply, activity-centred learning – and within in-class or remote learning contexts. Five topics provide integrated mini-units or simple, activity-centred approaches that support Alberta Social Studies, Science, Health/Wellness, Language Arts and Math curriculum. Download any of the project/activity teaching guides, students learning sources, assessment tools and vocabulary supports or receive free print versions of any of the resources.
