Mixed Media Visual Journals: Project Ideas, Media and Techniques (Part 1 - Substrates and Grounds)
In Part 1 of Mixed Media Visual Journals Mike will discuss different substrates and work through techniques for building grounds. We will demonstrate methods using four examples as we build up four different mixed media compositions. Stencils, transfers, resists, layering and collage are some of the techniques we will cover along with ideas for assignments and teaching strategies that will engage your learners. This video is designed for a "work-along" approach in which teachers can pause and resume the video as they work through the techniques shown.

Mixed Media Visual Journals: Project Ideas, Media and Techniques (Part 2 - Transfer Techniques)
In Part 2 od Mixed Media Visual Journals Mike will build on the ground techniques shown in Part 1. In this presentation we will create image transfers onto mixed media grounds. Graphite transfers, packing tape transfers and matte medium transfers will be explored and demonstrated. We will continue our discussion about ideas for assignments and teaching strategies that will engage your learners. Fun End of the Year Art Project: Sunny Day Mixed Media Collage
If you want to end your art classes with a big, happy crescendo, make sure to register in this workshop. You will paint, draw and collage while following provided step-by-step instructions. Having fun is most important; this will become your students’ favourite art project! Excellent for teachers of grades 2-9. The level of difficulty can be adjusted according to the grade level taught. You will be provided with links to a PowerPoint and a video that can be used directly in your classroom.

In this session you will learn the basics of facilitating improvised movement and dance with your students and see first hand how to integrate these exercises into your classroom. This creative movement style can be integrated into performing arts courses like Drama and Musical Theatre classes, as well as the locally developed dance curriculums. You will leave with a toolbox full of exercises and resources ready to lead your students in spontaneous, student developed, creative movement.
