Now more than ever we need kids to be engaged in meaningful games and activities that intrigue and capture their attention. Place value concepts form the foundation for most of the math covered in primary, and students need to thoroughly understand them through work with manipulatives and games. Come prepared to play games that incorporate cards, dice, place value dice and number lines and learn strategies that will help rebuild the gaps after a year of covid: understanding 10's, 100's, 1,000's, comparing numbers as greater than/less than, composing and decomposing numbers, work with number lines including patterns, estimating differences, addition/subtraction of 10's, 100's, ideas for rounding and expanding numbers. Handout will contain gameboards, concept skill checklists for assessment and journal ideas. IF SESSION IS VIRTUAL PLEASE BRING A DECK OF CARDS, 8 REGULAR DICE, 0-100 NUMBER LINE.
