Stories of Heroes: Impactful Practice in the Teaching Vocation

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Feedback form is now closed.
Why do underdogs inspire us? How do we see ourselves in the story of sports? What can our students gain from feats of courage by individuals and teams? With a recent explosion of sports documentaries, storytelling has enabled each of us to be inspired in our practice by seeing the challenges that others, on the field of play, have overcome. From trusting the process to winning one for the Gipper, the stories of sports have long offered a stage of emotion we can all connect to and ruminate with in our education vocations. In this session, you will explore the gift of storytelling, examine your own connection to the sports and vocation you love, and uncover meaning and inspiration behind athletes and teams that have conquered obstacles before them. Ultimately, we can share these stories with students, teams, and staff to grow, engage, and improve together.
