STEM in Stories: Connecting Curriculum to Popular Culture

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Feedback form is now closed.
Find STEM in your favourite stories, and in your students’ favourite pastimes and activities. This session will teach participants how to find the STEM topics in the stories that their students love and how they can incorporate those stories into their Science and Math lessons. The word “STEM” (an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) has become commonplace in the science classroom, but we don't often stop to think about what it means. In this interactive and collaborative session, we will define STEM and demonstrate how it can be leveraged to guide authentic learning. With the help of the presenters’ varied scientific backgrounds, participants will realize that STEM is all around them – including in children’s stories!
