It is understood through the oral tradition of storytelling that amiskwaciwâskahikan, now known as Edmonton, has been the home to Two Spirit peoples since long before settlers arrived. Colonization, however, had a detrimental effect on the Indigenous communities that lived in these ancestral lands. Join Cheyenne Mihko Kihêw from Edmonton 2 Spirit Society (E2S) in this overview of Two Spirit history and the contemporary resurgence movement. They will share their lived experience as a 2 Spirit person on their journey of cultural reclamation. Cheyenne will also speak about the services and programs available through E2S and offer information on how to support Two Spirit and Indigi-queer students.
