Come to the virtual Music & Rhythm workshop. Have fun making music together with “home-grown” instruments from any home. Be ready to sing in four languages, drum with bucket, dance and learn rhythm games to develop teamwork, leadership and stimulate creativity! The workshop and focuses on encouraging cultural awareness, teamwork, collaboration, and creativity. Participants will learn how to make and use home-grown instruments, conduct rhythm games, teach songs in four languages, demonstrate dance moves and body percussion. By using a bucket, sticks, plastic bowls, jars/bags of rice or beans, spoons, or your own drum, participants will acquire the necessary tools to encourage them to explore the intersection of music, rhythm, and community. The workshop culminates with sample improvisational activities that teachers can use to further stimulate children's cognitive development. Malicounda shows teachers how to facilitate music activity and encourage live drumming, dance, songs in four languages, rhythmic games, and stories to create a rich learning environment. Workshop participants will leave with tools and ideas to encourage children to explore their sense of rhythm and celebrate community!
