What they know can hurt them: How grades interfere with learning and what you can do about it

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Feedback form is now closed.

With the popularity of student information systems that provide continual access to student grades, secondary teachers need to be aware of the five ways a summative grade can interfere with student learning, engagement and motivation. Strategies will be presented on how to include the student as an active particpant in the assessment process so they may engage with feedback where learning becomes the focus instead of grade acquisition.
